General Update
Brad and the guys had a rough day in Garissa today. It’s hard for me to explain exactly what happened. We were planning to do a video chat around 8AM. He never showed up. A few hours later I got a message that there was some sort of problem. There wasn’t much more information until just after noon, when Brad instant messaged me from his hotel.
Here is a quote from Chris’s Facebook page:
Cyber update – long story short we received a lot of pressure today by the local Somali Muslims so we had to leave the area but only after we had the Cyber up and running and with the locals trained and able to run themselves. Pray protection and for this Cyber to be used as a light in a very dark and hard area. We are… staying around for phone or email support reasons for the next day or two.
According to Brad, the locals were not happy about 4 white Americans and wanted them out. Fortunately, our guys were given the opportunity to exit on their own – and they did just that. We IM’d with Brad just as he was going to bed, so we know for sure he is safe.
Again, stealing from Chris’s FB page, here are some photos from the cyber cafe.
You can also keep up with Brad via his Twitter updates to the right on this page. Click on the links to see his photos.
Please continue to lift Chris, Paul, Brad, and the intern who is with them (whose name I don’t know) to be protected while they are in this volatile area and to have a safe trip back to Nairobi later this week. Please pray for the Cyber Cafe – that it will be protected & that it will be successful. For those of you who were praying with us today, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Thank you.
