What a Difference a Day Makes!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Here’s what our home looked like on Saturday.  They were pouring concrete for the foundation of our new addition.  Cool trucks, awesome potty, big mess!

Yesterday the workers arrived early and worked into the evening to get a lot of the framing done.  Will says, “Look my new house!”  every time we drive up & the exterior has changed.  Margaret & our neighbor finally got the courage to open the door & look inside the potty.  They were not impressed.

Today the workers walled off the front room of our house & began tying the new structure into our existing home.  I love the way they have raised the roof line to tie everything together.  Tomorrow they hope to have the entire new structure under roof & shingled & begin demolition in the front room.

The foreman keeps saying they are going to be LOUD, but it’s really not that bad.  Then again, Will and I did sleep through the jackhammer a few weeks ago.  He has an ear infection & I just got over one.  Maybe it’s loud to everyone else?

Don’t forget to check the webcam under the “CONSTRUCTION” tab up top.  The workers are here lately from 8AM until 7PM.  After that, you might catch us enjoying an evening swim.

For My Mom

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

My mom mentioned the other day that my nieces were asking if I was starting to get big.  Well, of course she could only speculate — she hasn’t seen me in over two months!!! I’m sorry mom, for not posting more belly photos.

Well yes, I’m starting to get big — baby’s coming in 11 days!!!  Oh, and I walk like a duck, too.

Here’s one last set of photos from the beach.  They were taken three full weeks ago, so I’ve grown since then.  Brad’s mom took some really nice shots of Brad & me on the beach — but I like these photos better, because they reflect the reality of having 3 kids, plus one more on the way!

When I worked in children’s church at Hope, we always joked that I have a heart for little boys — well, it’s a GOOOD THING!!!

Margaret was a little late to get in the shot — Mimi caught her off guard, though:

Busted!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Ha! We went to the spray ground today & I actually caught Jack smiling!  There was a little boy standing under the bucket-dumping water feature & every time the water fell on the boy, his pants fell down.  Jack watched & laughed for a good 10 minutes — so lots of opportunity for me to catch my big boy’s lighter side.

AND THEN . . . . I caught Jack & Margaret totally hanging out together & even having fun just the two of ‘em!  Woo Hooo!!!  You know — the person you fight with the most is almost always your best friend.  It’s good to see them just let go & have fun together.

And lots and lots of cute pics of my 3 pumpkins cooling off from the 4th straight day of 100+ degree temperatures.

Keeping Cool

P1080946 Yes, the pool is awesome!  But all kids still love playing with the hose.  I’m wondering if this is why little boys fantasize about growing up to be firefighters?  They get to work the giant hoses — such power!!!  Margaret insists she NEVER gets a turn to spray the hose.  She’s right, though.  It’s a guy thing I think.

Aaaahhhh, peace.  It’s such a wonderful thing when these guys get along.  These kids probably get sick of me quoting Matthew 5:9, which is a soon-to-be-mother-of 4’s dream verse, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”  Then again, they probably don’t hear me anyway  — or they’re just pretending not to hear :)

The End of the Afternoon Nap

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

P1080945 It’s hard to be 4.  You need a nap.  Some days you really don’t need a nap.  You definitely don’t want to nap.  And you definitely don’t want to go to bed early when the sun is still shining brightly & all the other kids are out playing in the street.  Poor Will, we’ve given up the whole nap thing on most days and settled for him spending 30 minutes of quiet time in his bed after lunch.  I hold my breath and hope he’ll take a little snooze, but he’s always awake when the timer goes off & Mommy comes in to check on him.  Some days the poor guy just can’t make it ’til dinner time and passes out in the chair.  Poor, sweet baby.
